Favourite Autumn/Winter 2011 Campaigns

Unpopular opinion time: Lanvin's campaign was rubbish.

Givenchy Haute Couture AW 2011

While this looks a lot like Tisci's last couture collection which looked like his last couture collection I still love the cream pallette, simple silhouettes and detailing. He seems too comfortable with Givenchy right now and it's disappointing to see him not use his genius to create the stunning collections he once did.

Alexander McQueen AW 2011

Right now would be the part in the post where I would probably say something about how Sarah Burton is a great successor to Lee McQueen and she really knows how to infuse each collection with the true essence of the brand.

Instead I'm going to start off by saying I WANT A MCQUEEN HARNESS!!! This collection has a certain edge I haven't seen in a while (apparently there were wolves walking around the runway) that blends perfectly with the femininity that Sarah brings to each piece. The stunning black weave jacket with what looks to be a dog collar, classic tweed with zippers shaping the body and fur that looks a waterfall emerging out of the leather.

I don't really know what else to say, I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

Stella McCartney AW 2011 Details

Most of the time Stella McCartney never really does anything that has me falling off my chair and to be honest I don't think I could spend the kind of money she wants on things that aren't real leather.
The collection as a whole doesn't do much for me either but I do love the detail shots. Who doesn't want a metallic print jumpsuit?

Costume National AW 2011

Unffff I'm kind of dying over the red collar jacket. I'd so wear it with all black or with a pair of red shoes.

Mugler AW 2011

I felt the collection was extremely disjointed and unflattering. Nicola Formichetti's work is like that awkward teenager that tries to name-drop and act really cool to make people like them. It looks as though there wasn't enough time spent on each piece and they tried to fit as many ideas and concepts into the 37 looks as possible.

Gareth Pugh AW 2011

Do my eyes deceive me? Could that be blue? A colour? Well I never.
I often wondered if and when the day would come that Gareth Pugh would expand from his achromatic creations into the world of colour. His collections are often a continuation of the last, with silhouettes or patterns trailing into other looks making his career thus far seamless. One would think that that it would become dull but Pugh manages to evolve each idea and rework it into something eye opening each season.
However, as someone who has followed his career Autumn 2006, I feel conflicted and almost uneasy at how (gasp) commercial his recent work has become. I never thought I'd see models stomping down in chiffon. I keep telling myself it's all a part of his growth as a designer and hopefully he'll get bored of it soon.

Hakaan AW 2011

I really need to find some lipstick like this. Is it red, is it orange? Help!
I quite enjoy the relaxed feel of this collection, it's like a high fashion jeans and t-shirt. I've always been jealous of people who can pull off looking like they've just rolled out of bed flawlessly.

Jil Sander AW 2011

The streak of disappointment with Jil Sander has finally broken with Autumn/Winter 2011! The early 1960's shapes of the pieces works amazingly with the bold colour choices and (surprisingly) office accoutrements.
If Mad Men took place in East Berlin this collection would definitely be outfitting stoic pin-thin secretaries.

Temperly London AW 2011

I just wanted to post once last collection from London Fashion Week before the faint memory of it vanishes forever. I nearly forgot the amazing Temperly London, who always do a fantastic job at giving old-fashioned high glamour a modern twist.
While I'm not shaking and crying with this collection like I was SS 2010, I appreciate it's versatility and attention to detail.
