This season, each piece of jewelry in the BEVEL Hard and softwear (HXS) collection comments on the state of our Hardware, the body and Software, the spirit, in an attempt to offer alternate perspectives on the way we view our selves and our environment. The jewelry of HXS Compares machine to biology, physical to metaphysical, ‘hard wear’, jewelry, ‘soft wear’, skin and ‘software’, spirit.

It's no secret how much I adore Jonathan Goldstein and his jewellery so you guys should go and buy some because they'll be pieces you'll have for the rest of your life (and afterlife...goths).

Recent Acquisitions And Old Favourites

It's been about two weeks since I got back from New York and I figured I might as well show you guys some of the things I got. The wonderful Alyssa Panda Eyes gave me the triangle ring, crystal earrings and hexagram necklace, all three which have been glued to me ever since.
I bought the bird skull ring at Topshop the other day to keep in the theme of dangerous jewellery.

Went to Opening Ceremony with Alyssa, Chelsey and Sean and walked out with Comme Des Garçons' Vettiveru Cologne which has quickly become my favourite thing in the world. I tend to either wear very airy and light perfumes (Flower by Kenzo, Infusion D'Iris) or very musky men's smells (Chanel's Cuire De Russie) so this was a perfect addition to my collection.
Lastly, no trip to New York is complete without bringing back tones of cheap St. Mark's sunglasses.

As a small child I was extremely fascinated with all things Egyptian (I read this book until it fell apart) and as an adult I have a deep love for Topshop, so when I saw photos of their Spring/Summer 2012 collection (gold! triangles! sheer stuff!) I was really excited.
For someone who wears only black and rarely shops the high street I can't help but love how playful yet sleek Topshop's designs are and whatever "ripoffs" they do from runway looks are done quite well.

Can we take a moment and look at how awesome the hair is? I'm loving the gold slick back look as much as the metallic eye details in Gareth Pugh's Autumn 2011 show.

Back in February I was drooling over Jeremy Laing's AW 2011 collection and this season I'm doing the same, the only difference is I got to see it in person this time. The whole atmosphere of the show was incredible and my love for Jeremy has grown immensely.
Jeremy's choice of neutrals/muted colours always make the goth inside me cry because I want to wear everything.

I had the pleasure of going to Graeme Armour's Spring/Summer 2011 collection last year at Milk and was blown away by the cuts...this year the cuts were lovely but the colours not so much. I did like the beginning looks quite a bit but overall the collection wasn't as refined as I would have liked it to be.

Let me start off by saying I loved Mandy Coon's show; I loved the music (Devil's Dancer by Oppenheimer Analysis!!!), the runway and all the pieces going down said runway (even the colours!!!). I've really grown to adore the ~~cobalt~~ TARDIS blue that's been popping up everywhere the past year and after yesterday I really want to get my hands some for when it decides to actually be cold outside. Upon inspecting the informational paper detailing each look, I realised that each piece from the collection is the name of a Roxy Music, David Bowie, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Joy Division (amongst others) song title which made me fall in love with everything all over again. I'm a sucker for a good music reference.
This all made my camera breaking 5 minutes before the show started and having to run to Best Buy to spend $275 on a new one before Ivana Helsinki slightly less painful.
More on Ivana Helsinki later but right now I'm going to sulk because I have to wait 6 months for the Autumn collection.

Oh yeah, oops I accidentally TARDIS travelled to New York.

When it comes to shopping, I'm extremely picky because I have a set idea in my head of what I want and nothing is ever as perfect as I imagine. This is why I've started taking matters into my own hands lately and have gone on a bit of a DIY frenzy.
My latest project came by accident when I went to Leyland for some sandpaper, I wandered by the sink pipe section and this beauty was staring right at me. Ok, I sound a little mental it wasn't exactly like that.
All I needed to do was get some lobster clasps, connecting rings and gold chain and in about 5 minutes I was done. Easiest.DIY.Ever.

Here is a photo of the necklace in action at the world's most depressing fair. Seriously, there was only one person there and everything was straight out of 1973.

I've been so deathly ill the past couple of days that I've been nothing but useless to those around me. Although I wasn't able to go to work today, I very quickly became a little stir crazy being stuck inside my flat today and had to go out and get a few things.
I ended up finding these amazing giant gold studs that reminded me so much of Givenchy AW 2007 I nearly died with excitement. Keeping with my whole minimalist way of dress I decided to turn this ratty old sheer H&M shirt into Givenchy inspired wonder.
I don't know if I should add more studs to the collar or keep it as it is...what do you guys think?

Anytime it gets over 20ºc here is grounds to drop everything and go have a picnic. On Friday some friends and I went to the beautiful Parliament Hill in Hampstead Heath ~~and saw George Michael in the woods~~ to eat lunch and lounge around for about 5 hours. It's so perfectly quiet and secluded but the views of the city keep reminding you that you are in fact in the middle of London.
I decided to be completely impractical and wear my new ~~Acne~~ Deena & Ozzy boots to drudge through fields and forest, and if you're wondering why I'm wearing a sheer button down on a hot sunny day, it's because I don't do tans.

While this looks a lot like Tisci's last couture collection which looked like his last couture collection I still love the cream pallette, simple silhouettes and detailing. Here's a tip, don't go shopping with painful shoes on because you will end up buying new ones.

I wouldn't even touch anything if it was gold for the longest time but recently I've warmed up to the idea of it. I got dragged to Topshop yesterday and my plan to not shop anymore was foiled when I found these amazing buckle boots and golden cuffs (I was lurking the Hermès website the day before so it was perfect timing)! I think the more simple my wardrobe is getting the more big statement jewellery I'm wearing which isn't a bad thing, it's a nice change.

I think these photos accurately depict how cold, rainy and windy it's been today. I honestly can't believe this is July weather because if I was back in Toronto I'd be half naked in my living room lying in front of a fan.

Completely off-topic but on my way to the pub yesterday I had my first encounter with the lovely stinging nettle thanks to some jerk who didn't prune their front yard. I'm never going outside or near nature again because it hurt like a son of a bitch.

Initially I hated the sight of creepers, I thought they were mall gothy and way too bulky to actually walk properly in them but boy was I wrong. I had tried them on a couple of weeks ago at Office and thought they looked quite ridiculous but the sight of them in my mind kept on taunting me and eventually I caved.
They're super comfortable and the best shoes for going to gigs because the sole is so thick you can stand for hours. It's my day off so I'll try to take some pictures of them later.

I don't even care that my face is crooked.

These past couple days have been the most amazing days of my life. Not only did I fulfill a 10 year dream by seeing Suede perform 3 nights in a row at The Brixton Academy but I met wonderful people in the process.
Seeing all the songs live has given me a newfound appreciation for the band and really changed the way I listen to them. You would think that growing up around rock bands and actors would desensitize me to getting all sappy about this (and for the most part it has) but Suede have just been such a big part of my life. That's all I can really say.

Thank you to everyone who made these days so special and fuck you to the guy who called me a fat American "who should lose weight so everyone could fit in the front row". He's lucky I didn't have my Bevel ring on because he'd be toast.

Louisa and I spent the morning in London Fields and somehow ended up at the Hackney City Farm a couple of days ago and I could not have been more appropriately dressed, no? A big maxi dress is perfect for 25º weather and getting chased by a very angry duck. I tried to get a photo of my awesome gradient nails (black to silver) but the lighting was shit so you can all stare at my broken finger. I can do the Star Trek thing without even trying.

Onto more pressing matters now because I've been in a terrible clothing rut lately. Getting dressed in the morning has become extremely tedious and uninspiring due to the fact I could only bring what would fit into a large suitcase and a carry-on. I miss the other half of my closet that I left back in Toronto and until I get a proper job (this being unemployed business is getting old) I can't build a new one.
My flatmate insists that I would look quite sharp in some blues and reds but the thought of that makes me a little unwell and I spent the other day going around to various vintage shops but all I came back with was impatience and the realisation that I will never be one of those thrifty people.

The problem with job hunting in really nice shops is that you get heavily distracted by all the merchandise. Keep Zero Gravity stood out to me with it's stunning window display and rainbow of neutrals (from black to nude to the increasingly popular mint) hanging along the walls.
I always say that it's not a good "clothing day" unless I get confused on how to put them on and while K0G is full of transformable pieces, they are all so simple and effortless.

If you live in London or are visiting anytime soon I strongly suggest you visit them at 20 Hanbury St, London, E1 6QR right between Brick Lane and Spitalfields Market.
